Rosso Bruno Tomatoes - Selecting & Storing
How to Select
Rosso Bruno is at its peak of flavor
when the tomato is a reddish-brown color
with hints of green most notable around
the top of the tomato where the vine was
attached. Once the tomato is completely
red, that is a sign that it is overripe
and the flavor is beginning to fade.
It’s OK to eat when red, but the flavor
will not be as rich and robust.
How to Store
Ideally it’s best to store Rosso Bruno
and all tomatoes between 54¡ - 58¡ F. In
home it’s tough to find a 55¡ F space,
so we recommend you keep tomatoes at
room temperature, out of direct
sunlight. Definitely, do not
refrigerate. Refrigerator temperatures
are generally set around 36¡ F which is
too cold for tomatoes. Contrary to what
most people think, when you refrigerate
your tomatoes they actually lose flavor
and will not last as long. Wash just
before use.
