Bruno Russo Tomato
Main Index
Rosso Bruno is
ready-to-eat when the tomato is a beautiful brown color with hints of
green. Although its unique color really makes it stand out from other
tomatoes, its rich and flavorful taste is what truly makes this tomato
special.

Health Benefits
Like all tomatoes, Rosso Bruno is
naturally low in calories, fat,
cholesterol and sodium and is good
source of antioxidants vitamin A & C and
lycopene. However, Rosso Bruno is higher
in vitamin A and fiber than the standard
red tomato with 45% of your daily value
(DV) of vitamin A versus 15-20% and 2
grams of fiber compared with 1 gram per
125g tomato.
Nutritional Information: (1) 125g Tomato; calories 25; sodium 7mg; carbohydrate 5g; protein 1g
Season Available year-round. Rosso Bruno is at its peak of flavor
when the tomato is a reddish-brown color
with hints of green most notable around
the top of the tomato where the vine was
attached. Once the tomato is completely
red, that is a sign that it is overripe
and the flavor is beginning to fade.
It’s OK to eat when red, but the flavor
will not be as rich and robust.
History
Already popular in Europe, now this distinctive
and delicious tomato is available to you from
Dulcinea Farms and The Oppenheimer Group.
Although it’s been available in Europe,
Rosso Bruno is new to the US and Canada
– just introduced to the market in April
2006. They are only selling the tomato to a
select group of stores which includes Newport Market.
