Fresh Washington Asparagus

Snub other asparagus shipped from somewhere far south. We now have Washington grown asparagus. It’s local, tasty and plentiful. For a delicious twist, try Brian’s roasted garlic asparagus recipe. Actually, it’s his wife’s creation, he just likes to get all the credit.

Questions about our produce department? Contact the man for all seasons, Brian, for answers.

“We try to be the first on the market with everything,” says Brian, our produce manager. “Our goal is to buy the best each season has to offer.”

When it’s tomato season, you won’t find just ordinary tomatoes. You’ll find heirloom tomatoes too, just like Grandma grew.

We have seasonal fruit, from golden-ripe peaches to busting-with-juice berries. Think vegetables at their peak of freshness, like just-dug French fingerling potatoes and right-from-the-vine winter squash. If it’s in season, we carry it.

And don't forget our amazing selection of bagged lettuce that makes dinnertime easy, with everything you could want, such as a sweet baby green mix to mache, an heirloom lettuce that’s a European favorite.

At Newport Avenue Market, we don’t just sell produce. We sell quality and freshness.

(Here’s a tip about herbs. Keep them at their freshest by putting them in a glass of water, cover with a plastic bag, and store in the refrigerator. They’ll keep for weeks.)
