Every
cook needs great tools and having the right one can mean the difference
between breaking into a sweat over a tricky task or gliding
effortlessly through each step of preparation. I try to find
professional-quality kitchen tools and accessories that work really
well and last forever, says Debbie, our head of kitchenware.
If you’re looking for particular sizes and shapes of bakeware and
serving dishes we carry a great selection of BIA Cordon Bleu basic
white porcelain pieces. You’ll find every size of ramekin, custard
cups, gravy boats, pitchers, rectangular and oval platters and just the
right size plates if you’re serving “small plate” style like Spanish
tapas or Greek mezes. These dishes are durable, functional, a great
price and they look fantastic on your table.
I’m always happy to answer questions, explain how to use things and
talk about what’s new. My favorite tool right now is the silicone
high-temp spatula… it not only scrapes, blends and folds but I use it
to sauté and stir in a hot pan, too. It won’t melt, stain, crack or
absorb flavors or odors. I wish I could use it for everything! And then
there’s the Microplane zester/grater. It’s a wonder tool that
really works. Perfect lemon or lime zest, grated nutmeg and ginger,
fine shreds of parmesan cheese and mounds of shaved chocolate can all
be achieved with ease.
You’ll find most of our kitchen accessories near the wine department,
and great baking paraphernalia in the baking aisle, but we’ve got a
remarkable selection of items displayed throughout the store right at
eye level, where ever space allows. So get lookin’ and then get cookin!
